From an early age Deborah enjoyed drawing and coloring her pictures with pencil and crayons. Her freshman year in high school she was introduced to painting. Junior year in high school she received a Scholastic Art Award for Achievement in Art and a Certificate of Merit in the Evanston-Lake Shore Area Regional Exhibition. Encouraged by her art teacher, Deborah majored in Painting and Art History and received a Bachelor's Degree in Art from California State University. She has taken watercolor classes from Sierra College in Sacramento, CA, and oil painting with California artist Gregory Kondos from Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village, NV.
After working full time as a bookkeeper, a property manager, helping her husband build their custom homes and raising a family, she is finally a working artist. She has been painting, exhibiting and selling her artwork both in the United States and Mexico. Deborah is a painter who likes different mediums, acrylic, oil, and watercolor. She draws preliminary sketches of the subject she is going to paint in pencil and then draws the image on her watercolor paper, canvas or wood surface. Her style is realistic and representational and her palette contains bright colors. The ideas and inspiration for her images come from her imagination or from life experiences with people, animals and places. The bright colors and designs of Mexico have influenced Deborah's recent artwork.
She is affiliated with North Tahoe Arts in Tahoe City, CA and has been an artist on the juried studio tour and exhibited in the gallery for ARTour 2008, ARTour 2005, and ARTour 2002.
Her artwork is on exhibit in Los Barriles, BCS, Mexico in the Information Center, the Salon de Cortez in the Palmas de Cortez Hotel, Copper River Designs, Cafe Maria, and Otra Vez Restaurant.
