I owned a home in Baja California Sur, Mexico for many years. This cow's skull hung on the entry wall to my home right next to the front door. The last year that I owned the home a pair of finches moved in. It was fascinating watching them make a nest and inhabit the skull. Thus the inspiration for this painting!
